Book clubs are everything to an author

Not too long ago, book clubs were considered a little outdated. Archaic. Thank goodness, that has changed!

The first book clubs were formed in as early as the 1700s! Throughout the 1800s book clubs became a powerful tool for mainly women to voice their opinion on social issues and politics. An intellectual outlet in times where women's opinions weren't necessarily valued to the same degree as today.

Yet when I was in my teens and twenties, I did not know anyone who was part of a book club, and it wasn't a thing at high school either.

But having come out of a nasty pandemic started changing people's perception of socializing. Add to this the time we spend in front of screens every day... and now, book clubs are growing immensely!

This is wonderful for fresh authors like myself, who heavily lean on the word-of-mouth, the fun events and the social connections we get from book clubs.
